About OK Dog
Letter from the President

Brenda McBurnie Well, after a whole lot of discussion, the OKDog executive has prioritized where our efforts need to lie for the next year. Quite simply, we need more members! Every day I meet frustrated dog owners who love Kelowna and love their dogs. His or her dilemma seems to be the same as everyone else's. 'Where can I network and find activities I can do with my dog in this beautiful town?' I'm here to tell you that OKDog is here for you.

Our dilemma is 'where are our members'? Over the last few years there has been a steady decline in activity and membership. We are a new board who passionately want to be out there having fun with our dogs, organizing events, creating awareness and setting a good example. We just can’t do it alone, WE NEED YOU! We need members and we need volunteers. Basically, we need participation from you frustrated dog owners. So what is the solution? Get involved! Let's all work together and solve this problem! If you are not a member, we urge you to become one! It's simple, just contact Dara-lynn at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , or download our membership application and mail it to us along with your $10/year membership fee, and join the club!

Our second goal is to turn our website into a resource for locals and tourists alike. We would like to encourage you to start using our website as a resource. Once again, WE NEED YOU! So if you have a lost dog, a found dog, want a dog or are looking for a home for a dog, e-mail me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . Or if you simply have a neat or interesting dog story, an event you want people to find out about, maybe you’re planning a fundraiser or you just want to meet other people with the same breed. Whatever it is you're doing, think of www.okdog.com as your doggie networking website! Send us the info and we will post it. Let’s put the community spirit back into our community!

Brenda McBurnie,
President Okanagan Dog Owners Association
